News & Updates

Fabulous first week

What a fabulous first week of school! It has been wonderful to reconnect with all of our families. We missed you over the summer! In addition to this, with every school year, we welcome many new faces to our building. We are so happy to have you joining our school community.

Our building is alive with energetic and eager learners, many of whom are already fulfilling our school mission of being compassionate everyday leaders. Let’s keep up the good work.

At NSES, we strive to create an inclusive community where students feel free to be themselves. It is our hope that as we learn about each other, we create a school community that focuses on relationship-building, acceptance and respect. It is for this reason, we are finishing out the week,  with our Back to School Night. The event starts at 5:30 tonight. We hope to see you there!

Thank you for being a vital part of our school community. We look forward to an amazing year ahead.

Attendance matters

At NSES, we want all of our students to feel a part of our school community. The first step for this to happen is that they need to be in school regularly. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. We are asking for your help to start building this habit now so children learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college.

When absent, please notify the school office by telephone or email prior to the morning of the absence. As a follow up to any oral notification, provide a written (or emailed) excuse within five school days containing the date of the absence and the reason. A doctor’s note verifying an absence is required after five consecutive days of absences.

Some important times to remember include:

  • Breakfast: 8:40 a.m. (K-5 students only)
  • Doors open: 8:55 a.m.
  • Classes start: 9 a.m.
  • Late: 9:05 a.m. and beyond
  • Dismissal: 3:30 p.m. Please refrain from picking your child up early to avoid traffic.

Save the date

Below are a few important upcoming dates, but remember that this and more information are available on our online calendar.

  • Sept, 18 – PTA meeting, 6 p.m. (we'll also send a link for those who want to attend virtually)
  • Sept. 19 – Open House, 6-7:20 p.m.
  • Oct. 3 – No school, Rosh Hashana
