Summer music lessons keep students in the groove

Three students practice a song on their violins

Elementary-, middle- and high-school maestros are staying on top of their craft while school is out, thanks to band and strings lessons the ²Ê̳ÖÁ×ð is offering through its Summer Arts Program.

On Wednesday morning, orchestra teachers Anthony Berman and Cameron Newman practiced with a string quartet of brothers Saw Yoshee, Saw Joesph and Daniel Theinplus and friend Kyaw Zin Thant, while band teacher Mark Sudano and a trio of elementary trumpeters polished their skills on the horn.

Orchestra lessons happen Wednesday and Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon, while band lessons occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon.
